1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Making a purchase will not improve your chances of winning. "The 2006 Holiday Bookstore Sweepstakes" is open to legal residents of the 50 United States, D.C. and Canada (except void in the Province of Quebec) who are 17 years of age and older as of date of entry, and who are enrolled in or are an alumnus/alumna of an accredited U.S. or Canadian college or university where Follett Higher Education Group, Inc. owns or operates an on-campus or off-campus bookstore. (See further eligibility restrictions in Rule 6, below) Void outside the 50 United States and D.C., in Quebec, outside the remaining Canadian provinces and where prohibited by law.
  2. How To Enter: Beginning 12:00:00 A.M. Eastern Time (ET) on November 1, 2006, go to www.win5000.com and provide all information required for entry, and submit your entry as indicated on screen. All entries must be received by 11:59:59 P.M. ET on January 2, 2007. Limit one entry per person and/or email address for the entire entry period. Any participant who attempts to enter with multiple e-mail addresses or under multiple identities, or uses any other device to enter multiple times will be disqualified. Entries become the property of the Sponsor. Entries will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry, provided such person meets all the eligibility requirements set forth in these Official Rules. The "authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, or on-line service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.
  3. Prize/Approximate Retail Value /Odds of Winning: One Grand Prize will be awarded, consisting of: $5,000-US (approximately $5,597.01-Canadian) awarded in the form of a check payable to winner. Odds of winning the Grand Prize depend on the total number of eligible entries received during the entry period.
  4. Grand Prize Drawing: On or about January 15, 2007, a random drawing to select the Grand Prize winner will be conducted by an independent judging organization from among all eligible entries received in accordance with these Rules. Potential winner will be notified by email within 48 hours of the sweepstakes drawing. If the potential winner fails to reply to the e-mail notification within five (5) days of notification, or if the email notification is returned as undeliverable, winner will be disqualified and an alternate winner will be selected. Winner must meet all eligibility requirements and will be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability and (where permitted) Publicity Form within 15 days of first attempted written notification, or prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. If winner is a minor in his/her state/province of residence, the prize will be awarded in the minor's behalf to a parent or legal guardian, who must sign and return all required documents. All income taxes on the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. If Grand Prize winner is a Canadian resident, s/he will be required to correctly answer a skill testing question, in a manner to be described by Sponsor, as a condition of being awarded the prize.
  5. Conditions of Participation: Prize may not be transferred or assigned. No prize substitution allowed. By participating, you agree to abide by and be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding in all matters relating to this promotion. By accepting prize, winner (or his/her parent or legal guardian if winner is a minor) agrees to release Follett Higher Education Group, Inc. ("Sponsor"), its affiliates, parent company, subsidiaries, retailers, distributors, agents, representatives, and all other companies associated with the development or execution of "The 2006 Holiday Bookstore Sweepstakes", and the officers, directors and employees of each of the foregoing, from all claims, injuries, losses, damages, or liability of any kind arising from or in connection with participation in this promotion or acceptance, possession or use of prize. If any of the following occurs: (i) Prize email notification is returned as undeliverable; or (ii) Winner declines the prize; or (iii) Winner is deemed ineligible for any reason, or (iv) Canadian Winner is unable to correctly answer the skill testing question, or (v) Winner does not return the Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability and (where permitted) Publicity Form within 15 days of first attempted written notification, then the winner shall be disqualified and an alternate winner will be selected. Sweepstakes is subject to all federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission to the Sponsor to use winner's name and/or likeness for purposes of advertising, promotion and/or trade in commerce and in any and all media worldwide, without limitation or additional compensation, unless prohibited by law. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for: (i) electronic transmissions/entries that are lost, late, stolen, incomplete, illegible, damaged, garbled, destroyed, misdirected, or not received by the Sponsor or its agents for any reason, (ii) any problems or technical malfunctions, errors, omissions, interruptions, deletions, defects, delays in operation or transmission, communication failures or human error that may occur in the transmission, receipt or processing of entries, or for destruction of or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, (iii) failed or unavailable hardware, network, software or telephone transmissions, damage to entrant's or any person's computer and/or its contents, or causes beyond Sponsor's reasonable control that jeopardize the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, or (iv) any entries submitted in a manner that is not expressly allowed under these rules. All incomplete or non-conforming entries will be disqualified. Sponsor is further not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry information whether caused by Internet users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Sweepstakes or by any technical or human error which may occur in the transmission, receipt or processing of the entries. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this Sweepstakes should virus, bugs or other causes beyond the control of the Sponsor corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the Sweepstakes and in such case to randomly award the prize from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to the time of the action or event warranting such suspension or cancellation. CAUTION. ANY ATTEMPT BY ANY PERSON TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS SWEEPSTAKES MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DISQUALIFY ANY SUCH PERSON AND SEEK DAMAGES FROM HIM/HER TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
  6. Eligibility: Employees, officers and directors of Follett Higher Education Group, its subsidiaries, parent company, distributors, retailers, sales representatives, affiliates, divisions, advertising and promotion agencies, employees of all companies involved as prize partners, individuals engaged in the development, production or distribution of materials for this Sweepstakes, and members of the immediate families or households of any of the above, are NOT eligible to participate in this Sweepstakes.
  7. Name of Prize Winner: Prize winner's name will be available after the winner has been selected and verified. To receive name of winner, mail a stamped, self-addressed envelope accompanied with a signed, hand-printed request to "The 2006 Holiday Bookstore Sweepstakes Winner's List", PO Box 11507, Bozeman, MT 59719-1507. All requests must be received by February 28, 2007.
