Do numbers make history? At Oklahoma, we know that we have the numbers behind us, but we also believe that our history is more than just the numbers.
Ever since.the first Sooner Schooner rolled into the territory before it became a state . the gates first rolled open at the University of Oklahoma in 1890 . since the Sooners rolled their way into our first National Championship in 1950. we have been rolling forward into history, pulled by the strength of our pride.
It was Sooner pride with a little Sooner magic which pulled the team into the decisive victory against #2 Texas Tech on November 22nd. It was Sooner pride that kept the momentum going into our Bedlam victory over the Cowboys, pulling the team into a 3-way tie for #1 in the South and on to our third consecutive Big XII Championship.
And it will be the strength of our pride that decides our victory in Miami on January 8th. So seize this moment in history to show your Sooner pride for the BCS National Championship Game and don't forget the numbers:
144 All-Americans
42 Conference Championships
7 National Championships
6 Big XII Championships
5 Heisman Winners
and only 1 Oklahoma
Cheer like a champion, as the Oklahoma Sooners roll into history with National Championship number 8 on January 8th, 2009.
