BOWL PREVIEW!

While few people could have predicted the craziness that was the 2007 NCAA football season-there is one thing we can all agree on: this last week is sure to be an incredible one. Things get started on New Year's Day with the Citibank® Rose Bowl as #13 Illinois takes on #7 USC. The Trojans have been a bit of a disappointment this year, at least by their standards, losing to unranked Stanford and then-ranked #5 Oregon. They rebounded with wins over Cal and Arizona St., but their usually unstoppable offense is a far cry from was it was in recent years. USC's defense is top of the line, however, and with a healthy linebacking core ready to do battle, the Trojans will be a formidable opponent. Contrary to USC, the Illini have had a surprisingly good season-lead by the two-headed monster of Juice Williams and Rashard Mendenhall. The duo has combined to create quite the offensive threat, and the spread offense Illinois will be featuring is bound to give the Trojans plenty of trouble. USC is the big favorite, but don't count the Illini out. After all, they did beat Ohio St., who is good enough to be contending for the National Championship. .....
